Jamie McPherson is a songwriter, balladeer, composer and live performing artist in the acoustic folk, rock, blues and alternative country traditions. His song writing reflects his loves and eclectic tastes in various musical genres. Jamie is the master of what he describes as "Dead Cowboy Music".
Jamie spent many long hours hand building his own cigar box guitar, Rosita, with whom he performs a range of both original and classic slide guitar blues. Rosita is a four stringed cigar box guitar with both acoustic and electric pickups that gives a great versatility to his blues soundscape.
With live performances across the state in various pubs, clubs, festivals and alternative venues, you can be sure to catch a great show from Jamie. Highlights include performing solo for 5,000 people at the Adelaide Convention Centre to staging his own Adelaide Fringe Show, Life, Love and the Death of a Cowboy. A live show consists of his own penned songs with a good mix of lost and forgotten classics ranging from the blues to outlaw country music.
Jamie's music has been compared to such artists as Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, Leonard Cohen, Kim Salmon, Nick Cave, The Triffids and Neil Young by industry profesionals, press and fans alike.
Jamie resides in Strathalbyn with his wife, poet and artist Tikarma Vodicka-McPherson and their three chickens. He enjoys music, cinema, classic literature, the Australian bush, tall tales, being politically incorrect, drinking whiskey and eating cheese.
